Portland Roses

The Portland Damasks were developed in Europe in the early 19'th Century.  They offered an advance of what was to come - repeat blooming roses.

Portland Roses, or Portland Damasks combined the repeat blooming characteristic with a good dose of Damask fragrance.  They share many characteristic with the Damasks, fragrance, growth habit, bloom form - only the Portland Roses are a little shorter, and in some cases, they come in darker colors.  Actually, although Rose de Rescht is "officially" classified as a Damask, it's overall character, says that it should be listed here, as a Portland,
