Old Red Moss is an outstanding garden shrub. The very double, medium red flowers have excellent fragrance. The buds are quite mossy. Old Red Moss is one of the earliest moss roses. It was introduced before 1848. Old Red Moss makes a shrubby medium sized bush. Its canes are well branched. There does seem to be some confusion between the moss rose, Henri Martin, and Old Red Moss. We have seen Henri Martin advertised as Old Red Moss. They are 2 distinct roses. Old Red Moss has larger flowers and the bush has a completely different growth pattern. We recommend Old Red Moss highly. It is one of the finest examples of Moss Roses that we grow.
