Souvenir de Philemon Cochet is another of the outstanding Rugosas that were developed in the late 19’Th century. The lovely pink flowers are quite large and have excellent form. Souvenir de Philemon Cochet makes a tall shrub, but it stays relatively narrow at the base. The growth habit is very similar to Conrad Ferdinand Meyer. The foliage is relatively disease resistant. It doesn’t have the typical rugose leaves of this class. In our Zone 5 gardens, Souvenir de Philemon Cochet will experience winter damage to the upper third of the canes.
