The double dark red flowers of Duc de Fitzjames resemble little pompoms. Duc de Fitzjames demonstrates the wide variation in flower form that can be found among the Gallica roses. Black spot or mildew in our Zone 5 gardens never bothers the foliage. We rarely see any winter die back. Duc de Fitzjames stays relatively low, sending up short canes that bloom profusely on the new lateral growth in mid to late June.
