Hunter is another one of the newer Rugosas.  The brilliant red color was inherited from its Floribunda parent.  Hunter is almost always in bloom through the growing season.  Hunter can be a little slow to establish - expect a little more winter damage the first winter, but after that, Hunter does well.  Disease resistance is good.  The foliage is not as wrinkled as the typical rugosa so blackspot can show up on the older leaves depending on the weather conditions.  Hunter eventually will stay within 3 - 4 feet tall and at least that wide.
